2023 Tata Steel 25K schedule, date, venue, track, athletes, & favorites to win
Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw and Kenyan Daniel Ebenyo will headline the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, a prominent running festival and a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race in India. The #AamarKolkataAamarRun event will feature elite athletes vying for a $100,000 prize, with equal rewards for both men and women. The top three finishers in each race can earn $7,500, $5,000, and $3,500, with an additional $3,000 Event Record Bonus for International Elite runners.

Currently, the men’s event record is held by Kenya’s Leonard Barsoton at 1:12:49, while Bahrain’s Desi Jisa holds the women’s record at 1:21:04. In the men’s category, Daniel Ebenyo, a two-time world championship silver medalist, is making his 25K debut. Competing against him are Roncer Kipkorir Konga and Bernard Biwott, both holding sub-60-minute half marathon bests.
Yalemzerf Yehualaw, the 10K world record-holder, is making her debut in the 25K. In the women’s race, challengers include Yehualaw’s teammate Anchinalu Dessie and Kenya’s Betty Chepkemoi Kibet. Dessie, aged 20, achieved a half marathon PB of 1:07:30, while Kibet boasts a half marathon best of 1:06:37.
