Ballon d’Or voting format

The Ballon d’Or Awards feature a voting format consisting of a jury of 100 journalists. France Football appoints the jury members based on FIFA’s rankings – one journalist from each of the top 100 ranked nations get one vote each. After appointed the jury members, France Football presents them with a shortlist of 30 players. Each of the 100 journalists in the jury ranks their top five players in an order. The first-choice receives six points, while the second wins four, the third receives three, fourth receives two and fifth one. Following the end of the voting, the player with the most number of points wins.
