Dhoni has had a great IPL career.
Dhoni has amassed over 5000 runs in his IPL career to date, hit over 200 sixes, and holds the record for both the most caps and the most dismissals in the lucrative Indian Premier League. The seasoned captain assumed leadership after the previous captain, Ravindra Jadeja, left the team in the middle of the previous season. The senior skipper had resigned as captain at the beginning of the 2022 season. In IPL 2023, the wicketkeeper-batter is expected to remain the captain.
In the 14 seasons that the Chennai Super Kings have participated in the Indian Premier League, only Suresh Raina headed the team in addition to Dhoni and Jadeja. Dhoni has captained the yellow brigade in more than 200 games, whilst Jadeja and Raina have combined to captain the team for just 13 games.
