Jerry Springer was a well-known British-American broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, lawyer, and politician. He has been in the news because he passed away at the age of 79.
His real name is Gerald Norman Springer. He was born on February 13, 1944, in Highgate, London, England. His mother’s name is Margot Kallmann, who was a bank clerk, and his father’s name is Richard Springer, who is the owner of a shoe shop. His parents were German-Jewish immigrants who fled Landsberg a der Warthe, Prussia (now Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland). When he was 4 years old, he moved to the US. He also has a sister named Elvyn.
Jerry Springer did his schooling at Forest Hills High School. Later, he attended Tulane University in 1965, and first earned a Bachelor of Arts, then majored in political science. Subsequently, he got a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University in 1968.
He married Micki Velton in 1973. They are the parents of one daughter named Katie Springer. However, they divorced each other in 1994.
