Following two days of intense action, Calicut Heroes and the defending champions Kolkata Thunderbolts are sitting at the top of the table. On Monday, Ahmedabad Defenders will face-off against Hyderabad Blackhawks to begin their 2023 Prime Volleyball League campaign with an attempt to kick-off their season with a victory.

On Sunday in Bengaluru’s Koramangala Indoor Stadium, the debutants Mumbai Meteors got off to a solid start by winning the first set 15-10. However, Calicut Heroes maintained their composure to win the second set, which enabled them to make it 1-1. After settling into a groove, Calicut Heroes took the lead early in the third set and went on to win it 15-8 to take the match. Mumbai demonstrated its offensive prowess in the fourth set after falling down 1-2, but ultimately came up short as Calicut Heroes won it 15-14 to take an unstoppable 3-1 lead.
In the decisive set, the demoralized Mumbai Meteors committed back-to-back errors that gave Calicut the advantage. Mumbai’s team closed the distance after winning the super point, and then skipper Karthik put on an outstanding block to earn his team another point. However, Calicut maintained its calm and finished the set at 15-11 to take the 4-1 victory.
