Tech firm HCL has partnered up with the Uttar Pradesh government and the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) to organise the Noida Cyclothon 2023, learn more details including date, prize money, race categories, and more.
Navneet Sehgal the state additional chief secretary, sports, and youth welfare made the announcement about the partnership on Thursday.

Noida Cyclothon HCL
CFI, the national governing body for cycle racing in India, will provide all the technical support, knowledge, and expertise.
Event date and registration details
The HCL Cyclothon will take place in Noida on March 19, 2023. Interested participants can go to www.hclcyclothon.com. for further details and registrations, which is open till February 28.
Prize Money
According to executives from HCL, the total prize money for the Cyclothon will be around ₹32 lakh. This is the highest amount in India for any cycle race till date.
Race categories and entry criteria
The Cyclothon will feature three different categories:
- Professionals
- Amateurs
- Green ride
Interested participants should note that only those cyclists who are CFI-certified and fall under the 19-35 age group can participate in the 60 km road race.
As for the amateur race, it will include a 60 km of road race and 30 kms of mountain biking. The amateur category will be further subdivided into two groups – one for the 18-35 age group, and another one of those aged 35+. The green ride on the other hand is a non-competitive 15km ride open to all, including students.

Considering the growing awareness about the benefits of cycling and the government’s thrust on environment friendly mobility, we are happy to associate with this event.
He further shared how the event is happening at the right time when India has taken up the G20 leadership. Further mentioning how Noida is one of the host cities for the leadership summit.
Sundar shared how the company plans to make HCL Cyclothon into a long-term initiative and host it annually starting with the event in March this year.
Onkar Singh, secretary general of Asian Cycling Federation, shared how cycling is growing as a life choice and needs to be encouraged.
He added:
Competitive cycling continues to be a niche sport that we hope to grow and popularise through initiatives such as this.
Singh also added how events like this will help in nurturing Indian professional cyclists and also reach out to the people across the country.
