Arsenal vs Brentford: What Is The Real Reason Behind Alexandre Lacazette And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Missing The Match As Mikel Arteta Says The Duo Is Unwell

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were absent from the tie after manager Mikel Arteta said the pair was unwell

Ahead of their 2021/22 Premier League season opener against Brentford, Arsenal supporters welcome a raft of appalling news. A side already riddled with injuries saw its bagpipers of attack, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang be ruled out.

Mikel Arteta who spoke prior to the matchup talked about both the players being under the weather, news which saw them completely sidelined from the encounter. While the Spaniard refused to comment further on the issue or talk about how the players had falled sick, Arsenal supporters have since refused to buy his reasoning.

Mikel Arteta Claims Alexandre Lacazette And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Are Unwell

With Alexandre Lacazette persistently said to be scouring for a move away from Arsenal with the player on the cusp of an Atletico Madrid switch last term and Aubameyang being in horrid touch last season, Arsenal fans have speculated the duo to have gotten the Mesut Ozil treatment. Akin to Ozil being completely shut out of Arsenal’s squad by Arteta who refused to entertain his presence even in the Carabao Cup, both Lacazette and Aubameyang are said to now be facing the same destiny.

While Arteta’s methods on the pitch have been pointed fingers at, he might not be wrong if these reports are true. Aubameyang in particular has been nothing but a burden for Arsenal since signing a new contract, a player who didn’t even look assed enough to make an effort during the side’s preseason friendlies.

Arsenal meanwhile find themselves 1-0 down to Brentford at the moment in the second half after Sergi Canos netted for the home side in the 22nd minute.
