Raphael Varane whose transfer announcement has not been made as of now will end up missing Manchester United’s opening affair with Leeds United
Ever since he’s sealed a 42 million pound move to Manchester United from Real Madrid, CB Raphael Varane has been left devoid of an official announcement.
A string of reasons were cited over the delay in confirming the transfer with many alluding to an issue over the player’s rights. With the club’s Premier League 2021/22 season opener against Leeds United impending on Saturday, Manchester Untied found themselves running out of time to register the defender for the clash.
And the club failed to meet the deadline to see Varane have to wait for his debut for the club. In the midst of the bruhaha surrounding the delay in his announcement, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally come out in the open with the reason for the delay.
COVID And Self Isolation Result In Delay Of Announcement Of Raphael Varane Manchester United Transfer
Talking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s showdown, Ole cited COVID and the stringent norms in place as the main reason behind the delay in the move. Whilst Varane has successfully undergone his interview and all contract details have been ironed out with him, the French defender is yet to train with his new side due to being in self isolation.
Solskjær: "He's [Varane] not trained with us. Things happen and things take time. Unfortunately with the isolation and the delay, these things… It's not 100 per cent done yet." #mulive

While the news comes across as a massive setback to the club who would have wanted to pair Varane alongside captain Harry Maguire as they take on an electric Leeds United attack, the side’s supporters will be pleased that there isn’t any untoward delay hindering the player’s arrival.
