Cricket World Cup T20 Venue: With the cloud of Covid-19’s 3rd wave looming over India, let’s take a look at the alternate hosting countries for 2021 T20 World Cup for India
The fear of cricketing fans all around the globe has been duly met as the on-going Covid-19 pandemic has suspended the IPL 2021 edition and now the same fate could be met by 2021 T20 World Cup. With India on the verge of suffering from the 3rd wave of the corona virus outbreak, the question still remains if India is able to host a grand event like ICC T20 World Cup?
It seems like the answer is No! With the BCCI officials already urging that they would prefer the 2021 ICC World Cup to be played within the premises of the country. It is looking like a far-fetched dream now.
Given that the 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in Australia was also postponed to 2022 due to the on-going pandemic. It looks very unlikely that the ICC will postpone, this year’s mega event as well. Having said that, let’s take a look at the alternate hosting countries for T20 World Cup 2021.
Cricket World Cup T20 Venue
UAE
The United States of Emirates currently have the best of infrastructure which is required to stage any cricketing tournament amid this pandemic. With the successful completion of IPL 2020 as well, UAE could well be on their way to stage the first T20 World Cup under its hospitality. As per the recent discussion of both ICC and BCCI, India will remain as the host country, under any circumstance.
Also the fact that, BCCI holds one of the best relations with Emirates Cricket Board than any other country’s cricket governing bodies.
New Zealand
Ever since the first 6 months of Covid-19’s emergence, New Zealand has been very strict and disciplined with their restriction and as a result have been winning their battle against Covid-19 for a very long time. If there is only one place safer than UAE, to stage a cricketing fiesta as big as the 2021 ICC World Cup, it can be done in New Zealand.
