The net run rate is calculated by comparing the run rates of the two teams. A team that has a positive net run rate is scoring more runs than their rivals, whereas a team that has a negative net run rate is scoring fewer runs than their rivals.

The run rate can be calculated by determining the average number of runs scored per over by the whole team in the whole innings. It can be done by dividing the total runs scored by the team by the total overs faced by the team.

Therefore, a team’s overall NRR for a tournament is determined as the sum of all of its matches, not as the average or sum of its individual matches’ net run rates.
