Around 11 p.m. on October 30, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to La Mesa Road and Jade Road in Victorville (85 miles northeast of Los Angeles).
They discovered a man laying on the ground with a gunshot wound, and regrettably, the EMTs declared him dead when they got there. Reed, a star football player at Silverado High School, was the victim, according to SBSD, and his death was classified as a homicide. The sound of what sounded like dozens of gunshots was captured by a home security camera in the area.
Reed was a star for the Hawks.
Reed was a star player for the Silverado Hawks who could play on offence, defence, and special teams. Max Preps reports that Reed finished the season with 269 running yards, 5 total touchdowns, 72 total tackles, and 2.5 sacks on the defensive side.
According to the district, Reed participated in special teams, offence, defence, and defence for the Silverado Hawks. He was gifted enough to be chosen for the varsity team each of his four years in high school. In 2021, he won the award for Defensive Player of the Year in the Desert Sky League. Reisha Reed, his mother, always made sure to see his games from the stands.
The Hawks at Silverado High School have mourned over the loss.
The football team for the Hawks at Silverado High School, according to the principal, is heartbroken by Reed’s slaying. Principal Heather Conkle said that many of the players are still in shock, and when they got the news today, football was the furthest thing from their minds. But they are unified.
The hawks will play the playoff game on Friday in his honour. They intend to honour Reed Friday night by donning stickers on their helmets. According to Conkle, St. Francis, the Hawks’ rival, will also sport helmet decals.
Reed’s death is still under investigation, according to SBSD, which is requesting that anybody with information call the homicide detail at (909) 890-4908.
