Mohamed Elsayed stunned Yannick Borel at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 as he won his fencing match and celebrated it with the traditional Cristiano Ronaldo celebration

Prior to his showdown with Yannick Borel at the Tokyo Olympics 2021, Egyptian Mohamed Elsayed found no love from the watching public. With him up against three time world champion Borel, few gave Elsayed of even giving Borel a tough fight in the tie.

However, the world of sports and Olympics is known to throw fairy tale stories and we witnessed another one in fencing. Mohamed Elsayed stunned his naysayers as he defeated Borel in the first round of the epee event.

While the win itself was enough to propel the 18 year old onto the world stage as he sent a giant packing from the games, it was his celebration which really turned heads. After landing his winning blow, Elsayed was caught throwing his helmet into the air before he leapt into the air and performed Cristiano Ronaldo’s customary celebration.

Elsayed went onto defeat China’s Lan Minghao 15-9 but was eventually asked to pack his bags and head for the exit door after going down  in the quarter-finals as Ukrainian Ihor Reizlin routed him.

Ronaldo who performs the ‘siuuu!’ celebration after scoring a goal had first began doing so when he was at Real Madrid. And although he’s now changed bases with him plying his trade for Juventus, he’s carried on his traditional celebration of jumping in the air, spinning and throwing his hands in a downwards gesture.

No New Talks Of Contract Renewal For Cristiano Ronaldo At Juventus

Ronaldo meanwhile will be looking to reclaim the Serie A trophy for Juventus when he steps out for them in what is the final year of his three year contract at the club. While he was the club’s top scorer last season, he failed to win anything substantial as he returned empty handed in both the Serie A and Euro 2020.

Reports have since been rife of Ronaldo wanting to exit Juventus but the club’s sporting director has asserted that Ronaldo will see out his contract.
