Following the event, the game was stopped for a short period of time to inspect the playing surface for any damage. Once officials were sure that there had been no harm done to the playing field, the play was quickly resumed.

The 2022 Laver Cup was temporarily halted on Friday during the day session when a protester against climate change stormed the court and lit himself on fire.

The incident occurred during Diego Schwartzman’s singles match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Nobody was wounded during the gameโ€”not a single player, referee, or spectator. Wearing a white t-shirt that read “End UK Private Jets,” the protester was removed from the court at the O2 in London by security forces.

Stefanos Tsitsiaps of Team Europe, commented, “It came out of nowhere.” Tsitsipas further continued saying, “I had no idea what this was all about,” in the Laver Cup interview after winning his match and giving Team Europe a 2-0 lead.

Team Europe got off to a great start to the Greek Tsitsipas, who defeated Argentine Diego Schwartzman in straight sets, with a score of 6-2, 6-1.

Meanwhile, yesterday at the Laver Cup Day 1, it was the last professional tennis match for 20 times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer who was paired with Rafael Nadal representing Team Europe against Team World.
