F1 Austrian GP Preview
RedBull displayed one of the strongest and complete performances at the RedBull Ring with Max Verstappen securing one of the biggest margins of victory in the Formula 1 history over his arch-rival Lewis Hamilton.
7-time champion Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are on the backfoot as they have no answer to the pace of RedBull who are looking to get stronger ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix on the weekend. Hamilton has never been in this situation where he lacks pace in the Mercedes.
Hamilton has not been able to close the gap on the leader Max Verstappen as the Dutchman sits on the top of the summit in the Driver’s Championship by 18 points. This is a crucial weekend for all the teams as it will be the conclusion of the triple-header.
F1 Austrian GP Red Bull Ring Circuit Details
Continous Inclines and Declines at the RedBull ring helps drivers increase their lead as this is one of the shortest tracks in Formula 1.ย The race track itself is only 4.318KM/ 2.683MI which creates a ruckus on the track with cars crashing into each other.
Small gaps cause accidents on the track as Charles Leclerc crashed into Piere Gasly retiring him at the beginning of the race. He also pitted early as his front wing was damaged and started from the end to finish just behind his teammate Sainz at P7 showcasing a wonderful drive.
Austrian Grand Prix Circuit Lengths And Fastest Lap
The Austrian Grand Prix track record is held by Kimi Raikkonen, who clocked in aย 1:06.957 in 2018.
Drivers will face maximum uphill slopes of 12% and maximum downhill slopes of 9.3% as the difference in altitudes affects the performance of the car and the drivers who give it their all in tight corners. Fast overtaking patches create excitement for the fans at the RedBull ring.
Valterri Bottas won the Austrian Grand Prix the previous year and looks set to replicate his winning performance on Sunday. In the Styrian Grand Prix last week, he was pushed really hard by Sergio Perez who was looking to secure the third position for the RedBull but could not manage to close the gap.
