Ahead of PKL 2021, we take a look at the team Jaipur Pink Panthers could go ahead with and their auction modus operandi for season 8
The series was a success but Panthers performance in season 7 was not. Even after a brilliant start to their season with a new bunch of youngesters, they couldn’t even qualify for the play offs.
Abhishek might eagerly be waiting for season 8 to start, so that his team can have another shot at the title. The 8th season of the league, according to some records is stated to be held in the second half of 2021. That means the auctions are around the corner too. This article looks at Panther’s strategy for the next auctions.
Jaipur Pink Panthers 2021 Team And Auction Strategy: No Raider is a Good Raider in the Panthers
Panthers spent a lot of money on Deepak Niwas Hooda. He was one of the most expensive buys for the last season. He was given the command to lead the side. But after a solid start to the season with 4 wins in a row, Panthers lost momentum. Hooda too did not perform well, he could only manage 151 raid points. Panthers expected a lot more from their star raider.
Panthers might not retain Hooda at all. If they retain him, it would take away a huge chunk of money from their overall purse. Their other main raider Nilesh Salunke too had a poor season. Deepak Narwal who had good seasons with Patna Pirates and Bengal Warriors in the past could not perform according to his potential.
This basically implies that Panthers might not retain any of these three raiders. They still might use FBM for Deepak who is not expected to go for big bucks if past auctions are any indication.
They would like to make their raiding department stronger and might go for an experienced raider like Kashiling Adake. They might also go for all rounders like Ran Singh and Kuldeep who have done well for them in the past.
PKL Season 8 Jaipur Pink Panthers: What About Defence?
The defence did well for them in the last season. They don’t need to tinker much with their defence. Sandeep Dhull had a fantastic season, he scored 78 tackle points. He was supported brilliantly by Amit Hooda. Both of these players are expected to be retained by Jaipur. They might like to target someone like a Hadi Oshtorak who could be a good addition to the defence led by Dhull.
It’d be interesting to see if this time Bachchan is successful in putting up a team which could go the distance.
