Yuengling Brief History
Yuengling is a family-owned company and is America’s oldest independent brewery. It is located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
David G. Yuengling founded the company back in 1829 after establishing the brewery on Centre Street in Pottsville.
2 years later in 1831, a fire broke out and destroyed the brewery, after which a reconstruction began.
As the company grew in size, Yuengling’s family joined the business and the brewery changed its name to D.G. Yuengling and Son in 1873.
In 1985, Dick Yuengling became the fifth generation owner of the brewery. The company celebrated its 190th anniversary in 2019 with commemorative beers and other events throughout the year.
