The New Zealand-Australian professional wrestler Toni Storm made her official main roster debut this week on WWE Smackdown against Zelina Vega
Born in Auckland, New Zealand and billed from Queensland, Australia, Toni Storm is a former NXT UK Women’s Champion. This week she made her official main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown and defeated Zelina Vega in less than two minutes, knocking her out with The Storm One. Storm first gained attention through her stellar performances during the 2017 and 2018 Mae Young Classic Tournaments. She progressed to the semi-finals in 2017, and won it in 2018 at the WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution. Under the NXT UK brand, she also held the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 231 days. She defeated Rhea Ripley at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool and lost the title to Kay Lee Ray at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff.
Previously, Toni has also performed in the Japan-based World Wonder Ring Stardom, as the first non-Japanese wrestler to hold its world title, the World of Stardom Championship. She did so for over 612 days and also held Stardom’s SWA World Championship. Some of her other accolades include the Progress Women’s Championship and the Westside Xtreme Wrestling which she held twice.
In 2019, Pro-Wrestling Illustrated also ranked her 13 among the top 100 female wrestlers in the PWI Women’s 100.
Coming Out As Bisexual
Storm came out as bisexual this year on 22nd June, when she took over the NXT Instagram account for Pride Month. “I’m bi and it feels good to say it. It’s something I’ve been really comfortable with for a long time. I just never expressed it,” she said over NXT’s Instagram stories. It was reported earlier that she is dating New Japan Pro-wrestling star Juice Robinson.
