WTC Final Playing Conditions: The ICC has come out with a raft of rules and conditions to be embedded in place for the showpiece summit clash
The World Test Championship Final is scheduled to be played from June 18th to June 22nd in Southampton. The Indian players selected for the game are already undergoing quarantine in Mumbai.
The team is scheduled to leave on June 2 for England where they will have to undergo another three days of quarantine before they start training. Head coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli entered the bubble in Mumbai a couple of days back.
WTC Final Playing Conditions
Today ICC announced the playing conditions for the World Test Championship FInal. Like how the final will be played, which ball will be used, the concussion and covid protocol, reserve day rules, etc.
The match referee will update both the teams on the usage of the “Reserve Day”, in case if any time is being lost. The final decision on whether the Reserve Day needs to be used will be announced at the scheduled start of the last hour on the fifth day.
Short Runs: Same as the front foot no-ball, now the third-umpire will monitor the batters running. In case of a ‘short run”, they’ll inform the on-field umpires immediately.
Player Reviews: The fielding captain or the batsmen dismissed can confirm with the umpires that if they actually attempted a shot before the umpire goes upstairs to the third umpire for the review.
DRS Reviews: The height margin for the reviews has been taken to the top of the stumps.
ICC also told that Duke Grade 1 ball will be used in the World Test Championship Final.
Concussion Replacement
In case of a concussion due to injury on the head or the neck, a concussion substitute will be allowed. Once replaced the player injured can’t participate in the match again.
COVID-19 Replacement
If a player tests covid-19 positive or shows symptoms then he shall be replaced as the result of the Covid-19 Public Health Guidance.
