WTC Final Ind vs NZ: New Zealand’s Predicted Playing XI For The World Test Championship Final 2021

WTC Final Ind vs NZ: Nobody expected New Zealand to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship 2021 but here they are.

New Zealand finished second after the league stages of the ICC World Test Championship 2021. They had a win percentage of 70% and scored 420 points. They played a total of 11 tests in 6 series winning 7 and losing 4. None of their matches ended in a draw.

Although they didn’t win any of their games outside home, they dominated every team while playing at their home, including India. The conditions will be different in England for them and it will be interesting to see how they’ll adapt to the English conditions.

World Test Championship Final: The Openers

Tom Latham and Tom Blundell are the probable openers for New Zealand. They have Devon Conway and Will Young too but Latham and Blundell have performed well enough to retain their spots in the XI. Blundell has started opening recently and performed well in the recent series against Pakistan. Tom Latham has been a consistent performer for them with 1525 runs in 20 games between 2018-2021 at an average of 50.83.

World Test Championship Final: Middle-Order

Kane Williamson will bat at 3 in the WTC Final. He has led from the front with the bat scoring 1777 runs in 18 innings at an average of 71.08. He is ranked 1 in ICC Rankings and New Zealand’s best batsman in tests. Experienced campaigner Ross Taylor will bat at 4. He is the most experienced batter in the Kiwi side. He hasn’t been in good form lately but will be important for New Zealand.

Henry Nicholls is expected to bat at 5. He has been one of the top performers for New Zealand in the last three years. He has 1302 runs in 19 games at an average of 52.09 during 2018-2021. BJ Watling will bat at 6 and will do the wicket-keeping job. He is their man of crisis in case of a collapse and New Zealand will expect nothing less from him.

World Test Championship: All-Rounders

Colin de Grandhomme and Daryl Mitchell are the all-rounders in the squad. De Grandhomme is nursing an injury and if he’s not fit then Daryl Mitchell will be preferred. Mitchell has been in good form and has played some good knocks at number 7. He can chip in with a few overs with the ball as well.

Kyle Jamieson is more than capable with the bat and will bat at 8. His bowling will be more valuable with the new ball and due to his height. He gave a hard time to the Indians last time they met.

WTC Final Ind vs NZ: Pace Bowlers

Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Neil Wagner will be the three pacers other than Jamieson. All of them have been excellent in the red-ball format and have a great record against India. Boult and Southee will bowl with the new ball while Jamieson will hit the deck hard and try to bounce the Indian batters out. This is New Zealand’s Predicted Playing XI for WTC Final 2021.
