April 26th marks the opening day for Mutua Madrid Open 2022 as its qualifying rounds start. The tournament that is played traditionally on red clay has its final on May 7.

Swiatek will be looking forward to extending her winning streak and adding another title to her 2022 tennis season. The Poland superstar has now won four WTA titles in a row namely at, Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open and recently at the Stuttgart Open. The 20-year-old is currently on a 23 game winning streak. The Polish professional is going through a very good season so far and has eliminated quality players.
2. Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka recently reached the final of the Stuttgart Open before losing to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in a title race. The Belarusian player is the current champion of the tournament where she defeated Ashleigh Barty to win the title for the first time in the Madrid Open.
Top-seeded Sabalenka will try everything to defend her title.
3. Paula Badosa
A very exciting and tough fixture for World No. 1 and No. 2 Iga Swiatek and Paula Badosa as they face tough potential second-round draw clashes at the Mutua Madrid Open against former champions Petra Kvitova and Simona Halep respectively.
Badosa had some good advancements this season overcoming quality players and is one of the favourites at the tournament.
4. Maria Sakkari
No. 4 seed Maria Sakkari has been a semifinalist at the Mutua Madrid Open the previous year. The Greek is expected to have her first round against Madison Keys while Leylah Fernandez or Daria Kasatkina awaits in the next round.
Sakkari is expected to overcome these players following her form this year.
5. Naomi Osaka
Four times Grand Slam champion who recently reached the final of the Miami Open losing to No. 1 Iga Swiatek. The Japanese looked better in form as she showed her brilliant progress in Miami. Former World No. 1 Osaka is a heavy favourite for Madrid Open 2022.
