Wrestler Sumit Malik Banned For 2 Years From Tokyo Olympics: Left With Seven Days To Appeal

Tokyo Olympics is going to begin in 21 days, at this point the wrestling federation of India banned wrestler Sumit Malik. Most probably Sumit wonโ€™t be competing in the upcoming mega event.

The Tokyo Olympic Games are coming soon to entertain the world. Now when only 21 days are left for the Tokyo Olympics to approach, wrestler Sumit Malik has been banned for a span of 2 years. The Wrestling Federation of India handed this ban on the Indian wrestler and has given him 7 days to appeal. Now if Sumit doesnโ€™t make a valid appeal in the coming 7 days then he will have to face the consequences of the ban.

Sumit Malik Banned For 2 Years From Summer Games

The Wrestling Federation of India has asked Sumit Malik to submit his blood sample for investigation. The ban imposed on him has started on 3rd June 2021 and is said to be continued for 2 years. However, the wrestler is provided with an option to make an appeal in the next coming seven days.

In the appeal, he can address the court by his side of the story. If he is able to justify his point only then the ban is going to be taken off. He has got 2 options, either he can face the ban silently or can protest against it according to the wrestling federation of India. Sumit has agreed to give his blood sample to the court for investigation.

This wrestler from India qualified at Bulgaria for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. He was qualified for the 125 kg wrestling category in an event that took place back in 2018 in Bulgaria. Apart from Sumit, sprinter Richardson from America has been accused of consuming Cannabis. This sprinter is also on the verge of facing a ban. Richardson was to compete in the 100 m sprint category at the Tokyo Olympics.

The stage for Tokyo Olympics 2020 is going to set on 23rd July 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. The first schedule of the Tokyo Olympics was in 2020 but coronavirus forced the Olympic governing bodies to postpone it.
