2022 World’s Strongest Man: Heat-4 Recap & Winners
Ukrainian Oleksii Novikov, who was the winner of the 2020 World’s Strongest Man competition, narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in 2018, which was one of the biggest surprises of the competition. This time, he made no mistakes and won his heat easily with victories in the loading race and deadlift ladder. Trey Mitchell had to compete against Adam Bishop of Great Britain in the dreaded Stone-off after finishing only 3.5 points ahead of last year’s fourth-placed Bishop. In order to defeat Bishop’s tenacious challenge, Mitchell required to churn out 11 repetitions that sapped his strength.
2022 World’s Strongest Man: Heat-5 Recap & Winners
Martins Licis, the American who won the 2019 World’s Strongest Man competition, was the favorite to capture the title in 2022 after winning the Arnold Strongman Classic earlier in the year. In heat 4, he lived up to his reputation by winning the first two races and doing well enough to advance in front of a quick-finishing Maxime Boudreault of Canada.
After Boudreault finished third on the podium in previous edition, he found his groove in the closing competitions of 2022 edition, taking first place in the Log Lift and the Wrecking Ball Hold to earn a spot in the Stone-off against debutant Pavlo Kordiyaka of Ukraine. Both athletes produced an excellent 10 reps, but Boudreault advanced to the final with ease thanks to a draw.
