World’s Strongest Man Day 4 Recap and Latest Standings
On May 28, 2022, the World’s Strongest Man (WSM) Final began with the first three of six events that will ultimately determine the 2022 WSM champion. Mitchell Hooper, who is continuing his incredible WSM debut, won the KNAACK Giant’s Medley to start the day.
The Car Deadlift for Reps was the second event of the day, and 2020 WSM Oleksii Novikov demonstrated that he is not one to leave anything on the field. The final event was a masterclass in technique, with Novikov becoming the first winner of the Flintstone Barbell since Gary Taylor in 1995. At the end of Day Four, the following are the results:
- Oleksii Novikov — 28 points
- Tom Stoltman — 26.5 points
- Martins Licis — 20 points
- Mitchell Hooper — 19 points
- Trey Mitchell — 18 points
- Brian Shaw — 16.5 points
- Luke Stoltman — 15.5 points
- Maxime Boudreault — 11.5 points
- Gabriel Rhéaume — 6 points
- Eythor Ingolfsson Melsted — 4 points
The ten finalists had to carry two KNAACK boxes each weighing 125 kilogrammes (275.6 pounds) halfway down the 20-meter track (back-and-forth twice) and then a 455-kilogram (1,000-pound) super yoke the rest of the way.
Hooper’s amazing WSM debut continued with his fourth event victory, defeating incumbent WSM champion Tom Stoltman in their heat. Novikov set a quick time that seemed much faster in person, while Luke Stoltman kept his cool and composed approach to finish in the top half of the leaderboard with a decent time.

2022 WSM Final Roster
Three events will be held on the final day of the 2022 WSM competition: the Bus Pull, the Reign Total Body Fuel Power Stairs, and the Atlas Stones. With his trademark event, the Atlas Stones, still to come, Tom Stoltman is still in position to retain the WSM title – he would be the first strongman to win back-to-back titles since Shaw won his fourth in 2016.
Stoltman is 1.5 points behind Novikov, so it won’t be easy for him to reclaim the title. However, moving into the final day, it appears to be a two-man contest for the title, with Licis 6.5 points behind Tom Stoltman.
