In their second match of the women’s competition at the World Team Table Tennis Championships 2022, India defeated Czech Republic 3-1, which significantly improved their prospects of making the knockout round. They will be hoping for a similar overwhelming victory against Egypt tomorrow.

On Sunday, Indian women’s team defeated fellow competitors Czech Republic with score of 3-0 to win their first match of the competition. In the first match of tie, 44th-ranked Manika Batra defeated Hana Matelova by scores of 11-6, 11-6, 10-12, & 11-8 to win 3-1. Sreeja Akula, the national champion, then defeated Marketa Sevcikova by scores of 11-5, 11-3, and 11-8 to give India a two-match lead. Despite Czech Republic reducing the deficit by winning third match, Diya Chitale defeated Katerina Tomanovska 3-1 with score of 11-13, 15-13, 12-10, 14-12 to complete India’s victory.
India’s win over Czech Republic has put them in a comfortable position with their only game left against bottom-placed Egypt. Meanwhile, Czech Republic will play their last game against heavyweights Germany and will need a miracle win if they wish to qualify for Round of 16. On the other hand, reigning champions China have started their campaign with back-to-back wins and will be hopeful to qualify fort Round of 16 as group winners.

2022 Women’s World Team Table Tennis Championships Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
Chengdu city of China is currently hosting the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships, which kicked-off on September 30 and will culminate with the final on October 9. Out of the 28 teams competing in the women’s competition, 16 teams will move on to the Round of 16. Following a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic, the Indian women’s team is almost certain to advance to the Round of 16, but they can confirm qualification with a win against Egypt in their final encounter on Monday.
