In order to qualify for final, China defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the women’s semifinals of World Team Table Tennis Championships on Friday in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, southwest China. During the tie against Chinese Taipei, Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, and Wang Manyu all won their respective matches as Sun defeated Chen Szu-yu in opening match with score of 11-9, 11-1, 11-4 while Chen Meng defeated Li Yu-jhun 12-10, 11-8, 11-6. In the third match, Wang defeated Liu Hsing-yin 11-3, 11-5, 11-9 to give China the victory.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final between Japan and fifth-seed Germany, Japan dominated from very start and advanced to final after winning 3-0 thanks to victory by each of their players. In first match, Hina Hayata won 3-2 against Nina Mittelham by score of 9-11, 11-3, 6-11, 11-6, 11-8 to give Japan an early lead. Later in second match, Mima Ito won 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 in straight sets against Yin Hang to put Japan on the brink of final berth. With win in sight, Japanese star Miyuu Kihara didn’t disappoint and emerged victorious by virtue of 3-2 (11-4, 11-8, 9-11, 10-12, 12-10) score line.
On Saturday, much-anticipated final between China and Japan will be played and is bound to be a nail-biting one since both team’s paddlers have managed 18 match wins without a single loss.
