2022 BWF World Tour Finals: Men’s Singles Qualified Players & Season Preview

At men’s singles event of 2022 BWF World Tour Finals, top-ranked Viktor Axelsen will be overwhelming favorite considering his form in recent tournaments. In 2022 season, he bagged five titles including All-England Open and Indonesia Open. Elsewhere, All-England Open runner-up Chou Tien-chen is seeded second and might prove tough opponent for Axelsen.

From India, HS Prannoy is the only participant and he is seeded third owing to his strong show in 2022 across multiple tournaments including runner-up achievement in Indonesia Open. Meanwhile, 2021 World Champion Loh Kean Yew is ranked eighth and will attempt to overcome his own dry patch. Indonesia will be the only country with multiple participants, with Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting as representatives. Japan’s Kodai Naraoka and China’s Lu Guangzu are considered dark-horses after racing ahead of many other top-ranked players to qualify for this tournament.

As per BWF announcement, winner of men’s singles category will get $120,000 compared to $60,000 of runner-up. Elsewhere, losing semi-finalist players will be rewarded with $30,000 prize money. Hence, overall prize pool of 2022 BWF World Tour Finals will be $1,500,000.
