The 2022 Betfred World Snooker Championship is a professional snooker competition that will take place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, from April 16 to May 2, 2022. The World Snooker Tour hosts the tournament, which is the 16th and final ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season.

Tournament Format And Rules

The best of 19 frames was used in the first round of the main draw, the best of 25 frames in the second round and quarter-finals, and the best of 33 frames in the semi-finals. A two-day competition with a best-of-35-frames format will be used to decide the final.

Williams recorded breaks of 59 and 137 in the final session to tie the game at 13–13. The players were deadlocked at 15–15 after the next four frames. Williams made a 138 break in the 30th frame, his 16th century break of the tournament. At 16–15, Williams took the lead for the first time in the match, but Trump won the 32nd frame to force a decider. In the decider, Trump’ precision allowed him to win the frame and also the tie. Ultimately, Trump won the semi-final with a score of 17–16 to advance into his third Snooker World Championship final.

Meanwhile, to win the match 17–11, O’Sullivan won two of the four frames contested in the final session, making breaks of 67 and 83.

On the 1st and 2nd of May, the best of 35 frames will be played across four sessions in the event’s final. It will be officiated by Belgian referee Olivier Marteel, who will be officiating his second World Championship final after officiating the 2015 final between Bingham and Murphy. Since Reardon, who was 49 when he played Alex Higgins in the World Championship final, O’Sullivan is the oldest finalist. O’Sullivan is in his eighth World Championship final, having previously won six and lost one, while Trump is in his third final, having previously won one and lost one.
