2022 World Grand Prix Darts Day 1 Results, Venue, Draw, Tickets, & Day 2 Schedule
In the unusual double-start competition, Clayton was given the difficult task of taking on 2020 runner-up Van Duijvenbode in first round and Despite a rocky beginning, Clayton overcame it to secure second-round matchup against Dimitri Van den Bergh. His upcoming opponent Van den Bergh defeated two-time finalist Dave Chisnall in the decisive leg to earn a berth in second round of World Grand Prix. In a rematch of the 2016 final, Van Gerwen defeated two-time World Champion Gary Anderson with a commanding 2-0 victory while attempting to earn his sixth World Grand Prix title. In a high-caliber contest, World Champion Peter Wright defeated Kim Huybrechts despite a valiant comeback attempt, winning 2-0 to launch his campaign for the first World Grand Prix title.
In his first World Grand Prix participation since 2019, 2010 finalist Adrian Lewis triumphed, converting three checkouts of three ton-plus to defeat Jose De Sousa, who became the first seeded player to bow out of this year’s competition. Lewis will now face Chris Dobey, who stunned Luke Humphries and advanced to second round following an incredible finishing effort.
On Tuesday night, as the first round of competition comes to an end, world number one Gerwyn Price will face-off against Martin Schindler of Germany. James Wade, a two-time winner, will take on debutant Martin Lukeman while Daryl Gurney, the 2017 champion, will take on Rob Cross, the eighth seed. In a different match, Michael Smith will face Nathan Aspinall in another intriguing matchup.
