As such, the organising committee wanted a mascot to represent that historic significance, and what better than Bigfoot?
After some lengthy discussions, the organisers have finally settled on Legend the Bigfoot. The decision comes as the mascot matches the outdoor beauty that the Pacific Northwest region offers.

According to AJ Gaulton, Fan Experience Director of Oregon22:
“We started with many concepts — some fictional, some wildlife, others abstract — and then narrowed it down to a select few,” “After group deliberation, workshops, and feedback from focus groups, one character stood above the rest with a clear vision for meeting each key deliverable identified.”
Sarah Massey, CEO of Oregon22, also said:
“Additionally, the physicality of Bigfoot being powerful, swift, and nimble falls in line with the very nature of the sport.”

The Legend of the Sasquatch and Bigfoot
People have spotted Sasquatch-like animals across the world for years. However, many would agree that the Pacific Northwest is their true home. Bigfoot first became a popular local topic back in 1924, following an incident that took place in a gorge on the east flank of Mount St. Helens.
Many Bigfoot enthusiasts from the 1960s and 70s have accepted that the glory days of tracking the sasquatch are over. But that doesn’t mean an extraordinary event won’t bring out extraordinary athletes and creatures.
