For the first time since Operation Sindoor, Commodore Raghu N. Nair exposed Pakistan’s misinformation campaign, one falsehood at a time, during a tri-service media briefing of the Defence Ministry.
“While we will adhere to the understanding reached today, the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force remain fully prepared, ever vigilant and committed to defending the sovereignty and integrity of the motherland. Every misadventure by Pakistan has been met with strength and any future escalation will be met with a decisive response. We remain fully operationally ready to undertake any operations required in defence of the nation,” he said.
Raghu R. Nair is a distinguished Indian Navy officer with an impeccable service record. While his DOB isn’t known, he is aged between 40-60 years.
As a one-star officer, he holds the same rank as an Air Commodore in the Indian Air Force and a Brigadier in the Indian Army. To become a Commodore in the Indian Navy, officers must serve for 20–25 years, among other requirements.
Raghu Nair is the Captain in the Indian Naval operations who commanded the INS Chennai, a guided missile destroyer and the third ship of the Kolkata-class stealth guided missile destroyer and he patrolled it with great vigilance in the Arabian Sea under the anti-piracy operations and foiled a hijacking attempt on the vessel MV Lila Norfolk off Somalia Coast. Nair also led INS Chennai to participate in Exercise MILAN 2024, a multinational naval exercise held in Visakhapatnam from February 19 to 27, 2024, with over 50 countries participating.
On Republic Day this year, the President presented Commodore Nair with the Nao Sena Medal in recognition of his “devotion to duty.”
His contribution to India’s relief operations under ‘Operation Brahma’ following the terrible March earthquakes in Thailand and Myanmar was vital.
Commodore Nair, a graduate of the 54th Naval Academy Course, has completed post-graduate military training at the Naval War College and the Defence Services Staff College. He has held important leadership positions, such as commanding officer of the Kolkata-class stealth guided missile destroyer INS Chennai.
His most recent public remarks highlight how the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force are still ready and vigilant to protect the country from any threats.
