At the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, on Wednesday, Asian silver medalist Annu Rani advanced to the women’s javelin throw final after putting her best effort forward in the qualification round. Annu Rani, who holds the national record and
had a personal best of 63.82 meters in the most recent World Championships in Doha in 2019, fouled in her first attempt in the qualification round on Wednesday. Later, she had a dismal 55.35 meter throw in her second, and then produced a 59.60 meters in her final attempt.
She finished eighth overall & fifth in her group to qualify for the final, which is open to the top 12. Even though she fell short of the automatic qualification standard of 62.50, which only three attained, it was still enough to place her in the final. The final will take place on Friday night, which will be Saturday morning in India.
Haruka Kitaguchi of Japan, a finalist at the 2016 Tokyo Olympics, won the qualifier with a season-best distance of 64.32m, while Shiying Liu of China, an Olympic champion and gold medalist at the 2016 Asian Games, came in second with 63.86m. The defending World champion and Olympic bronze medalist from Australia, Kelsey-Lee Barber, advanced to the final, however American Maggie Malone, this year’s World leader with 65.73m, could only reach 54.19m and was eliminated.

2022 World Athletics Championships Prize Money And Where to Watch: Live Stream & TV Telecast?
The US television rights to the championships are owned by NBC Sports. Viewers will be able to watch the competition live in select regions on the World Athletics Facebook and YouTube pages. The women’s javelin throw final will take place on July 22 at 6:20 PM local time, and for Indian fans, the final will begin on July 23 at 6:50 AM IST. Indian fans will be able to follow the action live on Sony Ten 2 and Sony Sports Network channels.
Athletes who were in the top eight in their respective sports at the most recent World Championships in Doha in 2019 got a combined total of $75,30,000 in prize money. For the 2022 tournament, an additional $2 million has been allocated to this pool. A total of $1 million will be added to the prize money for the 44 different World Championship competitions, an increase of $23,000.
