The fourth edition of the prestigious international indoor competition, the Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which begins on Tuesday, May 30, will feature the top 16 nations from four confederations.
Following the United States’ victories in the first three competitions (in 2018 and 2019, and in 2021), the defending champions Italy won the tournament for the first time in 2022 with a decisive 3-0 victory over Brazil in the championship match.

Up until July 2nd, the preliminary round matches will be held in Antalya (Turkey), Nagoya (Japan), Hong Kong (China), Brasilia (Brazil), Suwon (South Korea), and Bangkok (Thailand). From July 12 to July 16 in Arlington, Texas (United States), the 2023 Women’s VNL final is set to take place.
Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023 format
The preliminary round of the VNL 2023 women’s competition consists of three weekly phases. The 16 teams are divided into two pools, and each pool’s teams are rearranged each week.
The top eight teams in the standings after three weeks will move on to the final round. After the preliminary round is over, the teams’ rankings will be used to determine the order of the knockout stages.
