The IPL 2023 auction has already completed, and fans already had witnessed some exciting signings as well as bid wars amongst the ten franchises. In addition to the IPL 2023, the BCCI also announced the start of the Women’s IPL 2023. The inaugural Women’s IPL 2023 season will be an experimental edition. With that stated, we’ve covered all you need to know about the Women’s IPL 2023.
When will Women’s IPL 2023 begin?
The Women’s IPL 2023 will be the league’s inaugural season. The event is scheduled to begin on March 3. The inaugural Women’s IPL 2023 will last 23 days, with the final slated for March 26. Previously, the sixteenth edition of the IPL was slated to begin in March, as it has in previous years. However, due to the addition of the Women’s IPL, men’s IPL 2023 will now begin from April 1st.
Teams
Five teams will compete in the first Women’s IPL 2023. The BCCI is aiming for zonal-based teams rather than city-based ones with each team representing a different zone.
Women’s IPL 2023 Venues
The inaugural WIPL will be held in Maharashtra at the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. However, the decision on venues is still to be made, but the IPL governing board is considering it as a prior option, which will also help them with transportation and logistics.

Given that the WIPL is an inaugural event, the BCCI feels that hosting it in Mumbai will result in a higher audience turnout, especially given the just finished T20I series between India and Australia, which had a record crowd in attendance. Looking back on the IPL 2022 season, league games were held in Mumbai and Pune, while the playoffs were conducted in Kolkata and Ahmedabad, which proved to be a huge success. Given these circumstances, the BCCI is seriously considering the Mumbai choice.
