2024 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy results, schedule, date, venue, & participating teams
The Indian hockey team clinched a determined 3-2 victory against the Republic of Korea in its second match of the Womenโs Asian Champions Trophy 2024 at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar on Tuesday. Sangita Kumari struck an early goal, while Deepika scored twice to seal the win. Although South Korea fought back to level the score in the third quarter with goals from Yuri Lee and Eunbi Cheon, Indiaโs assertive attack in the final 15 minutes proved decisive.
This win kept India, ranked ninth in hockey, in second place on the points table, trailing the Peopleโs Republic of China, who lead with six points and a goal difference of +20. India, with an equal point tally, holds a goal difference of +5. World No. 15 South Korea, historically the most successful team in the competition with three titles, remains without a win in this edition, following their 2-2 draw against Japan in the opening match.
It was noted that, following a dayโs rest, India would face Thailand in their upcoming match scheduled for Thursday. Among the six competing teamsโChina, India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailandโonly the top four would advance to the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament.
