Wimbledon 2021 Predictions, Pairs Who Could Win The Men’s Doubles’ Title

In these predictions we dive into the pairs who could give a real run for money to the champions Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the doubles category in Wimbledon 2021

Grand Slams are not only about men’s and women’s singles category marking their territory, but also demonstrating teamwork. Wimbledon 2021 would be no different as players would have an opportunity to team up with their partners and prove their strength in partnership.

Not only does playing doubles require great eyesight but also good reflex skills. It needs understanding the partner’s strengths and weaknesses as well to operate accordingly to achieve victory. Furthermore, players who might have failed in the single’s category have the chance to accomplish some success in the doubles.

Wimbledon Predictions 2021: Duos Who Can Lift The Men’s Doubles Title

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury are certainly worthy contenders to win the trophy in the men’s doubles category this year. Rajeev Ram boasts of a 55.2 winning percentage in doubles matches and has tasted most of his success with Joe Salisbury. The duo beat Max Purcell and Luke Saville in the 2020 Australian Open final in straight sets.

Joe Salisbury also has a burgeoning 61.2 winning percentage in the doubles category and is ranked 11th. Ram and Salisbury came agonizingly close to winning this year’s Eastbourne international. However, they lost to Metic and Pavic in straight sets. Nevertheless, it should keep them in good stead to deliver a good performance on the grass court surface.

Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek

Ivan Dodig’s record suggests that he could be a strong contender for the Wimbledon 2021 doubles category, teaming up with Filip Polasek. Ivan Dodig has a winning percentage of 59.9 and is ranked number eight in the ATP standings. The 36-year old has tasted success with Polasek in the only time they teamed up in grand slams.

The pair emerged victorious in the 2021 Australian Open finals, beating Ram and Salisbury in straight sets. Polasek also has a promising record in the doubles’ fixtures, winning 242 games and losing 160. Dodig and Polasek would hope to break their Wimbledon drought by lifting the trophy this year.

Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah

Juan Sebastian Cabal has a compelling record as a doubles player, winning 317 matches and losing 194 across ATP tours, Grand Slam, and Davis Cups. Juan Sebastian Cabal, ranked number five, won the doubles title in Wimbledon 2019 and the Australian Open that year. The Columbian has achieved 19 doubles titles in total.

On the other hand, his partner Robert Farah is also a highly accomplished player in the doubles category. Farah lifted the doubles trophy with Cabal in Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 2019. Hence, Farah, ranked number four, has more than an even chance to defend the title with Cabal successfully.

Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicholas Mahut

Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicholas Mahut were the doubles champions in the 2021 French Open; however, they are not just good performers on the clay court. The pair has won all four grand slams this decade and have excellent individual records. Nicholas Mahut, the number two ranked player in the doubles category, has a winning percentage of 62.8.

On the other hand, Pierre-Hugues Herbert also has a burgeoning winning percentage of 69. Herbert and Mahut did lift the Wimbledon Trophy in 2016; however, they narrowly missed out three years later. The duo has already warmed up by winning the doubles category of the Cinch Championships in London. Hence, they remain one of the firm favourites to win in Wimbledon 2021 too and find a name in these predictions.

Nicola Mektic and Mate Pavic

Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic is yet another pair enjoying a promising record in the doubles category as the pair has performed well in grand slams. Mectic, currently ranked number three, has a 62.5 winning percentage in the doubles category. But a grand slam title has evaded the Croatian pair.

On the contrary, Mate Pavic not only has a couple of grand slam titles but has a 65.2 winning percentage. Pavic and Mektic warmed up by claiming the Eastbourne title that occurred before Wimbledon. Hence, Pavic, who has not won a grand slam with Mektic, will hope to accomplish the same in Wimbledon.
