An ex-football player killed three University of Virginia football players late Sunday at the school’s main campus in Charlottesville as a bus was returning from a field trip for the students.

Police suspect Christopher Darnell Jones Jr as the culprit.
Following the shooting, the school was placed under lockdown as the police searched for the culprit, Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., who was then thought to be armed and dangerous. Students were instructed to take cover and not to approach the gunman if they saw him.
Jones is currently charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the conduct of a felony, according to UVA Police Chief Timothy Longo Sr. Jones was finally apprehended after an hour-long manhunt.

Jim Ryan, the president of UVA, stated at a press conference that for our UVA community, it is a terrible, surprising, and heartbreaking day. This morning, the entire campus community is in mourning. His prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone who knew and cared about them. His heart is devastated for them.

There is not much news about the three people that died. According to Ryan, Chandler was a second-year student, Davis was in his third year, and Perry was in his fourth.
Prior to this, Chandler studied at the University of Wisconsin. Jim Leonhard, the interim head coach for Wisconsin, said Chandler has left a lasting impression on his teammates long after he graduated from UW, which speaks much about the kind of person he was. He was fun to be around and had a contagious attitude.
Lavel Davis Jr., one of the top wide receivers for the Virginia Cavaliers this season, was a tall man at six feet seven inches. On the year, he has 16 receptions for 371 yards and two touchdowns.
Perry’s parents’ attorney expressed gratitude to the South Florida and Charlottesville communities for the outpouring of solidarity during this incredibly awful time. Over the past three seasons, he has participated in 15 games as a linebacker for Virginia. In the 37-7 defeat on Saturday against Pittsburgh, he recorded two tackles.
