Udaipur hacker Sanjay Soni stole the data of fifteen lakh women by hacking the intimate wear-selling website Zivame

He blackmailed the company to get cryptocurrency from them.

A shocking incident took place, when a man named Sanjay Soni hailing from Udaipur, Rajasthan, reportedly stole the personal data of more than fifteen lakh women from Zivame. He then sold it to Muslim nations.

As per reports by the media, the man who stole data was identified as Sanjay Soni. Accused Soni stole the sensitive information from the website and started blackmailing the company to pay him money in the form of cryptocurrency. The personal information including mobile numbers, addresses, date of births, email IDs and some information about the undergarments was hacked.

Sanjay Soni, accused of stealing the sensitive content got arrested on 31st of May 2023, after the company informed Rajasthan SOG about the incident. Sanjay Soni stole the personal data of over 15 lakhs women

Zivame data hacked

Zivame is an e-commerce store for lingerie, loungewear, activewear, and other apparel for women. Reliance Retail acquired the brand in 2020.  They have faced a data breach. Several Indian women’s personal data is out online for sale, as per reports by the media.

As per media reports, the hacker has put the personal information of at least 1.5 million Indian women after accessing the Zivame website.

The information that is leaked online includes email, phone numbers, names, and the physical address of female customers. The information on the Zivame site is sensitive as the brand’s primary sale comes by selling lingerie for women.

Due to blackmail on behalf of the accused, first an attempt was made by the company to hush up the matter and on behalf of the company, $1500 was transferred to the account mentioned by the accused. Later, when the demand of the accused increased, the company transferred another $1600. When the demand increased, a report was lodged in SOG and Inspector Poonam Kumari is probing the matter. Investigation revealed that $1000 was transferred to the account of the accused while the rest of the amount was transferred to another account and after police remand for three days, the SOG produced the accused in the court and sent him to jail.

Nothing else is known about Sanjay Soni at the moment.

Reports say that The India Today Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) team spoke to one of the threat actors and they revealed that they are now willing to sell it for 500 dollars in cryptocurrencies. This is a big threat to the privacy of women as the data can be out online.

However, Zivame has not given any statement on the alleged breach. Zivame’s CTO has been contacted by media persons but he has declined to comment anything.
