Shabnam Shakil is an Indian cricketer who was born on June 17, 2007, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and is currently playing as a bowler for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League. She is also a place for India Under 19 and Andhra Pradesh South Zone.

She is a student in class 10 at the Siva Sivani School in Marripalem, Visakhapatnam.

A look at Shabnam Shakil’s career so far

It all started after seeing her father play club cricket as a fast bowler and this piqued her interest in the game. Upon observing her passion for cricket, her father registered her at the NAD Academy in Visakhapatnam when she was eight years old, where she was coached by Nagaraju.

She played cricket on the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) pitch in the evenings, taking lessons from Satish Reddy and Krishna Rao.

Shabnam Shakil gained notoriety at regional cricket competitions thanks to her 110 kmph bowling average. She picked up one wicket in her three overs against the UAE team and another by conceding just seven runs in her three overs against Bangladesh.

She competed for India’s Under-19 team, which went on to win the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup in its maiden year in 2023.

The budding right-arm medium pace competed for India’s U-19 women’s team against New Zealand in a home five-match T20 series in 2022. She represented India B Women Under-19 in the Women’s U19 T20 Quadrangular Series that year, facing off against the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and India A.

In 2023, the youngster competed for India in the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup.
