Throughout the years, she has taken digs Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba and has had constant run-ins with PSG.
Veronique Rabiot and her influence on Adrien
Her only client is her son. The 63 year old was born in France and is French.

When Roma made offers for Rabiot, Veronique’s made demands to meet the manager Rudi Garcia following talks with former sporting director Walter Sabatini. This demand ended their talks. Tottenham Hotspur also ended talks with Rabiot due to Veronique’s demands.
The same happened with Barcelona after her repeated hard-ball negotiating and financial demands ended Rabiot’s of joining the club. Rabiot finally made a move to Italian side Juventus.
Controversial incidents at PSG
Veronique has had several controversial incidents and run-ins with PSG over the years of her son’s football career. It goes way back to when Rabiot was still in the youth team. When Rabiot was just 15, he got an invitation to join PSG’s trip to Qatar in 2012. However, he had to withdraw from the squad after the club refused permission to bring his mother along.
During his loan spell at Toulouse, Alain Casanova, the head coach revealed that he rejected Veronique’s request to attend every first-team training session.
Another incident took place in 2014 when Rabiot just started to break into the first-team set-up at PSG. Veronique confronted the then head coach, Laurent Blanc because she was angry that her son was demoted to the reserve team according to her. Security had to intervene after Veronique had been waiting for Blanc in the parking lot.
Veronique even snuck into a training camp in Doha despite the trip banning family members of players. Back in January 2019, Rabiot got relegated to the PSG reserve team after his demands over new wages were rejected.
Veronique commented on the incident saying:
My son is a hostage of the club, he will soon live in prison on bread and water.”
Man City youth team
Back in 2008, when Rabiot was at the French national academy Clairefontaine, Man City scouts took interest in him. However, according to the player himself
after six months, the club did not respect certain agreements, so my mother said ‘Stop’ and we went home.”
Euro 2020 exit
At the Euro 2020s, France got knocked out on penalties after Kylian Mbappe missed the decisive penalty following a 3-3 draw. After the match, Veronique was reportedly caught on camera talking to Mbappe’s father, Wilfried. She reportedly said:
It is embarrasing how he struck that, for a player of his level. He hit it too lightly, I hope you are going to scold him.”
The Athletic also reported on the same game about witnesses saying Veronique clashed with Paul Pogba’s family members mid-game. Rabiot’s mother accused Paul Pogba of being at fault for conceding Switzerland’s third goal.
Another of The Athletic’s sources, reported:
Rabiot’s mother is known to be very sensitive and very close to her son and she didn’t appreciate what Pogba’s friends were saying about one of Adrien’s touches.
Her husband
Veronique’s husband, Adrien’s dad suffered a stroke back in 2007, which left him with locked-in syndrome. It is a rare and serious neurological disorder, which happens due to damage on a part of the brain stem.
People with locked-in syndrome suffer total paralysis despite having consciousness and other normal cognitive abilities. It was then that Veronique took responsibility over her son, Rabiot’s football career. Veronique is Adrien’s agent, represents her son in all contract negotiations and speaks to the media on his behalf.
