Usman Ghani, who served as the district Chief of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) minority wing in Bikaner, Rajasthan, recently expressed his displeasure over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments.

On Wednesday, Usman Ghani was expelled from the BJP for allegedly damaging the party’s image. In a recent interview to a news channel, Ghani claimed that the BJP might lose some Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, possibly because of Prime Minister Modi’s comments about Muslims.

Addressing a recent election rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi suggested that the Congress would distribute wealth to Muslims if it came to power. He further accused Congress of intending to hand over workers’ hard-earned money and assets to “invaders” and families with more children.

Usman Ghani has been associated with BJP since 2005 and was an ABVP worker even before joining the party. At present, Usman Ghani was the President of BJP Minority Morcha from Bikaner city, but before this he has held many posts including being the Vice President.

Usman Ghani, who strongly criticized the comments as a Muslim, expressed his disappointment with what PM Modi said. He mentioned that when he reaches out to Muslims to seek votes for the BJP, they express their displeasure over PM Modi’s remarks and ask him for an explanation. The former leader also claimed that the Jat community is upset with the BJP, noting that they voted against the party in Churu and other districts.

He also indicated that he is not worried about the fallout from the criticism of the BJP and PM Modi. Soon after a video of Ghani talking to a reporter surfaced online, the BJP took action against him and suspended him. The Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of BJP Rajasthan ,Onkar Singh Lakhawatpointed out that Usman Ghani is trying to damage the image of the party through media channels.

Lakhawat revealed in a statement that the party has identified Usman Ghani’s activities aimed at tarnishing his image. As a result of his actions, the party decided to expel him from the core membership of the party for six years. The Bikaner Lok Sabha seat was contested in the initial phase of the April 19 polling.
