Speaking to the Parliament, Dhesi expressed the worries expressed by his Slough constituents, especially those in the Gurdwaras and Sikh community, over the security of farmers participating in the march toward New Delhi.
He called attention to the tragic death of a protester who was allegedly involved in a confrontation with the police, stating that the protestor had suffered “a bullet wound to the head.”

Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi is a British politician. He has been in the news because he raised concerns in the UK Parliament over the death of a farmer during the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march.
He was born on 17 August 1978 in Slough, Berkshire, England. His family is of Punjabi Sikh heritage. His father, Jaspal Singh Dhesi, is a construction firm owner and a former president of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Gravesend, Kent. On the other hand, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi, his mother, was imprisoned in India after being charged with abducting a teenage mother and forcing her to have an abortion.
After receiving an earlier education, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi returned to the UK at the age of 9. Later, he graduated in mathematics with Management Studies from University College London. Later on, he attended Oxford’s Keble College to study Applied Statistics. Additionally, he graduated from Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge with a Master of Philosophy in the History and Politics of South Asia.
His wife is Manveen Kaur Dhesi who he married in 2006 nd they have two sons.
He is currently 45 years old.

His career
Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi started his political career in 2007 when he was elected to the Gravesham Borough Council. From 2011 to 2012, he held the position of Mayor.
Even though he ran unsuccessfully for the 2015 general election, he continued to participate in volunteer work. After being elected as the first Sikh MP in Britain in 2017, Dhesi juggled his parliamentary responsibilities with his work as a consultant for DGP Logistics and as a councilor for Kent County.
His contributions included serving on committees and backing Lisa Nandy in the 2020 Labour Party leadership election. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi was in the news in 2021 for posting unpaid volunteer work. In the British shadow cabinet reshuffle of 2023, he took on the position of Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury.
