Nika is a point guard. She holds the all-time single-season record for assists for the Huskies with 284 during the 2022–2023 season. She was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year twice (2022, 2023). Muhl also has the record for the most assists in an UConn career with 679.

Muhl played in the Croatian Prva Zenska Liga with ZKK Tresnjevka 2009 for four seasons, from 2016 to 2020. Talking about her college career, Several NCAA Division I basketball programmes, including Oregon, Ohio State, Louisville, and USF, offered her scholarships.
