According to reports, authorities have contacted a coroner to bring out a detailed report on the cause of the death.
Tommie-lee Gracie Billington died on Saturday after he was discovered unconscious at a friend’s house in Greenset Close, Lancaster and his grandmother has since spoken out, blaming the devastating loss on a new dangerous online challenge called “chroming”.
The death, which happened on Saturday, is being treated as unexplained and is still being investigated, Lancashire Constabulary said. “Tommie-lee went into cardiac arrest immediately and died right there and then. The hospital did everything to try and bring him back but nothing worked. He was gone.”

“Chroming” is a new TikTok trend currently going viral among social media users. The trend reportedly involves breathing in a harmful substance like paint, solvent, aerosol cans, glue, cleaning solutions, or gasoline, to experience a short-term high. According to experts, the act is life-threatening and can result in heart attacks, asphyxia, and permanent damage to the liver, brain, and kidneys.

11 year old Tommie-lee Gracie Billington was a resident of Lancashire, who passed away on Saturday after performing a new TikTok trend, “Chroming.” According to reports, authorities reported a 999 call at 12:02 p.m. to a private property on Greenset Close, Lancaster. Upon reaching them, they found the boy unresponsive at a friend’s house.
Tommie-lee Gracie Billington’s family speaks out
The deceased boy’s grandmother, Tina Burns, who works as a nursing assistant in Clayton-le-woods, made a plea stating:
We need the cause, the reason, to come out in the media about what murdered my grandson. He died immediately following an overnight at a friend’s house. The youngsters had attempted the TikTok fad known as ‘chroming’. Tommy-lee fell into cardiac arrest and died right away. The hospital tried everything to get him back, but nothing worked. He was gone.”
Burns further wrote on Facebook, expressing her sadness and love for the deceased boy. She further stated how she would use her grandson’s name and face to advocate against the risks of performing such acts as “Chroming” to spare the lives of other children and prevent other families from experiencing such painful losses. Both sides of Tommie-Lee’s family are reportedly advocating for stricter internet safety measures at the moment.
