His real name is Thomas Charles Werner. He was born on April 12, 1950, in New York City, United States. He was born to a Jewish family. His mother’s name is Elizabeth and his father’s name is Henry Werner. He has one sister named Patsy Werner Hanson, and one brother named Peter Werner.
He did his schooling at St. Bernard’s School in Manhattan and The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. Later, he graduated from Harvard University in 1971.

Tom Werner began his career in television in 1973 by working for ABC-TV. He was appointed Director of East Coast Prime Time Development in 1975. In 1979, he received a promotion to senior vice president of the prime-time development division.
Following his departure from the network in 1980, he and Marcy Carsey co-founded The Carsey-Werner Company. Werner was admitted to the Television Hall of Fame in 1996.
In order to launch Oxygen, a 24-hour cable channel that catered to the preferences of the “millennial woman,” Werner teamed up with Oprah Winfrey in 2000. The network was acquired by NBC Universal in 2007 for $925 million, and in 2017 it underwent a rebranding to become a multiplatform website with a concentration on true-crime content for women.
When Tom Werner and 14 other investors from Southern California bought the Boston Red Sox, he made his foray into sports club ownership. He has been the Red Sox’s chairman since February 27, 2002.
Since then, the club has made the postseason 10 times and won four World Series, including the 2004 win that ended an 86-year championship drought. The Red Sox set a team milestone in 2018 by winning 108 games, and they went on to capture their eighth World Series crown. In 2010, Werner took over as the Liverpool Football Club’s chairman.
