Police arrested the third man based on surveillance video showing him appearing to shoot several times.

Further investigations showed that the man wore the same distinctive backpack on his social media postings and his phone data also showed that the device was in the shooting area.

Police charge Terry Young of murder

Police authorities arrested a 20-year-old man named Terry Young with second-degree murder on Thursday in connection to the shootout at the Kansas City Chiefs parade. Young, who lives in Kansas City, Missouri, was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon and 2 counts of armed criminal action. Following the charges, Young is currently jailed on a $1 million US bond, with no attorney.

Previously, authorities had arrested Lyndell Mays and Dominic Miller on the same charges right after the shooting on February 14. Notably, the parade had over 1 million people in attendance as the Chiefs celebrated their second straight Super Bowl win. Aside from them, the authorities also took two juveniles into custody, with three other men facing gun-related and resisting arrest charges. They are also accused of illegal purchase of high-powered rifles and guns with extended magazines.

Police issue statement

Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Jean Peters Baker spoke out about the investigation, saying:

Everyone we’ve identified who discharged a firearm in response to the verbal altercation detailed here has been taken into custody.”

Baker added that there could be additional charges.

According to police and prosecutors, the gunfire started when a group of people confronted another group for staring at them. Authorities stated that one of Miller’s bullets killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who was watching the rally from nearby. According to the police, people injured ranged from 8 to 47 years.
