During his playing days, Constantine had showcased his skills with American clubs such as the Pennsylvania Stoners and New York Pancyprian-Freedoms. However, it was in the role of a coach that he truly found his calling.
Constantine’s coaching journey commenced in the United States and Cyprus, where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for an illustrious career.
In 1999, he took on the mantle of coaching the Nepalese national team, a role that would later earn him a medal from the King of Nepal for his contributions.
His journey continued as he assumed the position of the Indian national team’s coach for the first time in 2002, a role he would revisit in 2015, leaving an indelible mark on Indian football. During his tenure, India, previously ranked 173rd in the world, witnessed a meteoric rise.
Under Constantine’s tutelage, the team clinched the SAFF Championship and embarked on an impressive 13-game unbeaten streak. By December 2018, India had ascended to a remarkable FIFA ranking of 97.
Constantine’s coaching expertise wasn’t limited to international teams. In 2006, he served as the first-team coach for Millwall, showcasing his adaptability and versatility. Subsequently, he ventured into coaching national teams, leading the Rwandan national team to its highest-ever FIFA ranking of 68 in May 2014.
In 2007, Constantine assumed the role of manager for the Malawi national team before coaching the Sudan national team in 2009. He also found success in the Cypriot domestic leagues, overseeing the fortunes of APEP, Ethnikos Achna, and Nea Salamis Famagusta.
His career took an organizational turn when, as the assistant manager of Greek club Apollon Smyrni, he co-founded the British Coaches Abroad Association in November 2013.
Constantine’s most recent venture in the footballing world brings him to East Bengal, where he was appointed as the head coach for the 2022-23 football season.
