Parul Chaudhary, an Indian distance runner, won the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase race at the famous Track Night NYC 2023 sports competition on Friday in New York, USA.

After her recent achievement of shattering the women’s 5000-meter national record at a competition in Los Angeles, Chaudhary extended her winning run by posting a time of 9:41.88 at Icahn Stadium. This triumph marks her first title of the season in the World Athletics Continental Tour bronze-level event.

Madeline Strandemo, an American athlete, came in second place among the six runners in 10:02.48, with Meredith Rizzo, another American, coming in third in 10:08.52.

Significantly, Parul Chaudhary easily outran the qualifying time of 9:58.55 seconds for the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase in the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships later this year, further establishing her status as a strong contender. She is currently training in the USA alongside other Indian athletes.

While Chaudhary’s current time in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase is slower than Lalita Babar’s national record of 9:19.76, it is still more than three seconds quicker than her impressive effort on Friday.

She was born on April 15, 1995. She is currently 28 years old.

Over the course of her career, Parul Chaudhary has twice placed herself among the top eight athletes as per the rankings of the Asian Championships. She has become the national champion four times. Parul finished the 5,000-meter event in 15 minutes, 36.09 seconds, earning a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha.
