Who is Slavko Vincic?
Slavko Vincic is a Slovenian referee who was born on November 25, 1979 in Maribor, SR Slovenia, Yugoslavia.
Slavko Vincic is ready to officiate his second only UEFA final where Real Madrid will be vying for a record extending 15th UCL title against Borussia Dortmund.
Refereeing many tournament games since his debut in December 2016, he has a wealth of expertise officiating Champions League matches.
Refereeing his second UEFA club tournament final, the 44-year-old oversaw the Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Rangers in the 2022 UEFA Europa League final.
The 2020–21 Champions League quarterfinal between Porto and Chelsea and the 2020–21 Europa League semi final between Arsenal and Villarreal are among the 12 Champions League and 19 Europa League games had him under his belt.
Vincic has officiated international matches since 2010. He has overseen seven Champions League games this season, including the second legs of Dortmund vs. Atletico Madrid’s quarterfinal and Bayern vs. Lazio’s round of 16 match.
He officiated two group stage matches (Spain vs. Sweden and Switzerland vs. Turkey) and the semifinal match between Belgium and Italy after being selected as a match official for Euro 2020.
Since Damir Skomina was selected to oversee the 2017 Europa League championship match, Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund will be the fourth UEFA final officiated by a Slovenian official. This season, Vincic has overseen five Champions League games without giving out a penalty kick or issuing a red card.
One of his matches was Dortmund’s quarterfinal matchup victory against Atletico Madrid, 4-2 on the second leg.He also officiated two matches in the 2022 World Cup, the first of which ended with Argentina losing 2-1 to Saudi Arabia, the eventual winners. He will be paid $10,000 in salary for being the referee of the Champions League final.
Legal issues?
On May 30, 2020, Vincic was unintentionally held as a result of a police probe into a prostitution and drug trafficking ring in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nevertheless, Vincic was swiftly cleared of all accusations.
