Vikash Dhorasoo is a French former football player who was born on October 10,1973 in Harfleur, France and has Telugu roots. The 50-year-old central midfielder stands 1.68 m (5 ft 6 in) tall. He was the first Indian origin French footballer to play for France.

With roots in Indo-Mauritania, Dhorasoo is an Indo-Frenchman. His family left Andhra Pradesh, India, in the last century and moved to Mauritius as Telugus. 

A look at Vikash Dhorasoo’s career 

Vikash Dhorasoo began his football career with Le Havre AC. In August 1993, he made his debut there in a 0-0 draw with AS Saint-Etienne. After five years in Le Havre, he moved on to play for Olympique Lyonnais in 1998. He briefly played for league rival FC Girondins de Bordeaux between 2001 and 2002. 

He and Lyon shared two French Ligue 1 championships in 2003 and 2004. 

In order to accept a two-year contract to play for the Italian team AC Milan, Dhorasoo gave agreed to travel abroad in April 2004. After returning to France, Dhorasoo signed a contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2005.

During his career, Dhorasoo primarily played for Lyon, where he won two Ligue 1 titles in 2003 and 2004. He also had stints on loan at Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain, where he was dismissed in October of 2006. 

He spent a year playing in Italy with AC Milan, up till the UEFA Champions League Final in 2005. After that, he briefly played for Livorno before making an appearance there. Between 1999 and 2006, Dhorasoo played for France with distinction, earning 18 caps and scoring one goal. He competed for the team that placed second in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Vikash Dhorasoo is the fourth child of his parents. His grandfather is from India. Dhorasoo was the youngest son of a family of Mauritians of Indian origin, raised in Le Havre in the multi-ethnic district of Caucriauville with his father no more now.
