Jim Ratcliffe is a well-known English billionaire, chemical engineer, and businessman. He has been in the news because his firm, Ineos, is considering buying Manchester United.
His full name is James Arthur Ratcliffe. He was born on October 18, 1952, in Failsworth, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. His father was a joiner, and his mother was an accounts office worker.
After completing his schooling at a local school, he got a bachelor’s in science from the University of Birmingham. Later, he attended London Business School, where he did a Master’s in Science.
Ratcliffe first married Amanda Townson, with whom he had two sons. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship with an Italian tax attorney, Maria Alessia Maresca.

Six years later, he paid £84 million to buy a facility from Inspec in Antwerp, Belgium and went on to found Ineos, which grew into a major chemical company.
